Unzen Kyushu Hotel
A sophisticated resort hotel in Unzen, one of the first mountain resort areas in Japan.
The huge, 9,158 m2 hotel grounds contain four buildings: the entrance building, a guest room building, a restaurant building, and the villa. People who stay at the hotel will surely enjoy its sophisticated, calm atmosphere, where time seems to pass slowly. This hotel is the perfect place to spend some quality time.
Guidance of the Room
There are 21 rooms in the guest room building. If you want to enjoy a beautiful view from your room, these rooms are for you.
On the third floor are double rooms, each accommodating a king size bed—a rarity for hotels at hot spring sites. On the fourth and fifth floors are twin rooms with semi-double size beds. All rooms are Western-style rooms with tatami sitting areas and a view of Unzen Jigokudani. Each room has a terrace and a semi-open-air hot spring bath.
Our four deluxe villa rooms are designed for people who value privacy over having a room with a view. Our villa rooms are spacious, with sizes over 90 m2 (including a terrace). The playful room layout is a little more complex compared to the rooms in the standard guest room building.
Guidance of the Hot spring
We don't have a communal hot spring bath at our hotel. Each guest room has a semi-open-air hot spring bath, though the bath water is not 100% free-flowing. Enjoy the bath in your room at any time, for as long as you like. Please understand that we cannot provide 100% free-flowing bath water. Unzen Onsen is located in a national park, and drilling of the natural hot spring is not permitted. Therefore, the amount and temperature of the spring water will vary depending on the weather and season, so the addition of water or heat from other sources may be required. (This applies to all baths, both in the guest room building and the villa rooms.)
Guidance of the Meal
The founder of this hotel was once a chef of Western cuisine aboard ferries on routes to Shanghai, and so dinner includes a European-influenced menu with various Western dishes. We do not only serve the classics. We also create new flavors to match the modern lifestyle using the latest techniques, and at times draw inspiration from Japanese cuisine as well. Enjoy our chef’s special dinner course along with a recommended wine. Naturally, the food in this course is made with local seafood, local specialties, and also local customs. Breakfast is served in the main dining room. Guests have their choice of Japanese- or Western-style spreads.
